Minister of Finance, Dr. Ali Abdul Amir Allawi, chaired an expanded meeting of the committee preparing the federal budget strategy for the medium term 2022-2024 in the presence of the deputy minister, the advisor to the prime minister, and the general directors of other ministries.
A statement by his media office received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said today, Thursday, that "the meeting discussed mechanisms for drawing up a strategy for general budgets and means of reforming the development of approved systems by preparing budget strategies for the coming years in line with the Iraqi economy's need to achieve comprehensive economic development."
The Minister of Finance stressed the focus of the next budget strategy towards activating the investment side, maximizing non-oil financial resources, determining revenues, and emphasizing the need to approve the program budget to achieve the best performance according to the plans and timings set.
Allawi referred to the development of appropriate mechanisms for financing and the involvement of the private sector, approving the completion of strategic projects with a multiplier effect, and submitting a report on external and internal debt and scheduling it by the Public Debt Department.
