Minister of Health and Environment Hassan Al-Tamimi identified today, Sunday the ministry's work priorities in facing the Corona pandemic, while promising tougher recommendations in the event of non-compliance with social distancing.
In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Tamimi said, "Prevention, follow-up of preventive measures by the Supreme Committee for National Health and Safety and the imposition of fines will be among the priorities of the ministry's work."
Al-Tamimi called on "clerics, tribal sheikhs and workers in the private sector to adhere to and avoid gatherings and visits," vowing, "Otherwise, we will have strict penalties than it is now."
Earlier, the Supreme Health and Safety Committee announced the extension of the health curfew for two weeks.
The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "due to the current epidemiological situation, and the accompanying indicators that predict the risk of an increase in injuries and severe and critical cases, as the current epidemiological data of (Covid-19) indicates an increase in the number of injuries. And hospital admissions, to preserve the safety of citizens, and based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, it was decided to extend the procedures for the comprehensive curfew on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and partial curfews from eight in the evening until five in the morning for the rest of the week.
