Patriarch of the Chaldeans in Iraq and the world, Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, confirmed on Saturday, that returning 50 properties to Christians and Sabians is a step towards encouraging them to return to their homeland.
Sako appreciated "the initiative of the leader of Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr,” describing this initiative as “patriotism and humanity," according to a statement by Sako to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"Work will continue to encourage Christians to return to their country and recover their property," he added.
Earlier, the formed committee responsible for returning the property of Sabeans and Christians, has given back more than 50 properties and houses.
Al-Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr had directed the formation of a special committee to receive complaints from Christians regarding their usurped properties and lands.
