Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi confirmed, today, Sunday, that the supreme religious authority, Ali al-Sistani and the Pope of the Vatican, Francis, are drawing for us the path of hope for the future.
The media office of the Prime Minister stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Al-Kadhimi received Cardinal Sako, who in turn expressed during the meeting his deep thanks and appreciation for the governmental efforts that led to the success of the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Iraq, and embodied this success by strengthening Iraq's position in the international community, as well as its contribution to supporting the values of peaceful coexistence and stability in the country.
According to the statement, Al-Kadhimi praised "the efforts of the Iraqi Church and its role in preparing for this visit, and to achieve it by making it a visit to all of Iraq and not only to its Christians."
