The Ministry of Agriculture revealed today its efforts to achieve a balance between consumer and producer protection, while confirming that the abundance of rain will make the agricultural plan for the next year a success.
"The ministry's policy depends on increasing crops and providing them locally, and preventing imports to protect the national product, as well as its efforts to achieve a balance between protecting the consumer and the producer," the ministry’s spokesman, Hamid Al-Nayef, said in a special statement to the Iraqi News Agency.
He explained that "crops that exceed the daily need are exported," revealing that "250 thousand tons of tomatoes are exported, which are surplus to need and are generally available in the market."
