The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Hennis Plasschaert, confirmed today, Tuesday, that Al-Sistani, stressed the importance of voting freely in the elections without any pressure.
In a speech at the UN Security Council session, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Blashart said, "The The supreme religious authority, Ali al-Sistani, stressed the importance of voting in the elections freely and without any pressure, and stressed the need for integrity, transparency and oversight."
She added, "The United Nations welcomes the decrease in attacks on diplomatic missions in Iraq," noting that "the greatly reduced levels of violence in Iraq are encouraging."
And she stressed "the importance of continuing the talks between Baghdad and Erbil."
