The leader of the Sadrist Movement, Sayyed Muqtada Al-Sadr, confirmed on Thursday that Sweden has crossed diplomatic lines and political norms after granting approval to burn the flag of Iraq.

Sayyed Al-Sadr said in a tweet via Twitter followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "after Sweden announced its hostility to Islam and the heavenly books because it does not believe in such heavenly things, apparent and internal, it is crossing diplomatic lines and political norms and declares its hostility to Iraq by giving consent to burn the flag of Iraq.

"I will wait here for a firm official response before any action of my own, and according to my understanding, if the flag of Iraq is actually burned, the government should not be content with condemnation and denunciation, as this indicates weakness and subservience,” he added.

"The burning of the Qur'an again is not matched by the burning of the Torah and the gospel, but the peoples of the world must support divine matters, otherwise the irreparable will happen to us and there will be no time for regret," he said.
