The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, announced today, Thursday, that two terrorist plots targeting the security of Anbar and Kirkuk provinces have been foiled by the Counter-Terrorism Service.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Rasoul stated, "With the direction of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the brave counter-terrorism services continue their distinguished operations, as they managed to thwart terrorist plotters targeting the security of Anbar and Kirkuk governorates."
He added, "Our knights in the apparatus were able to, in an outdated operation, set up a tight ambush in Karma - Anbar, which resulted in the arrest of two terrorists who were planning to plant explosive devices in a popular market in the district of Fallujah," noting that "the arrest took place during the receipt and delivery of the packages. The explosives were hours before the execution of their cowardly scheme. "
He added that "a pile of ammunition was found inside (42) explosive devices and (4) rockets of a type called Hell, SPG9 and a number of mortar rounds."
