
INA – Baghdad Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim Jaafari welcomed the UN decision of extending the mandate of UNAMI until the 31st of May, 2019. Jaafari met Yan Kubis, the UN General Secretary Representative, in his office on Thursday to praise the positive role played by Kubis in supporting Iraq. He asserted on the partnership with UNAMI that ‘would contribute to achieving the goals specified by UN Security Council’. From his side, UN Representative expressed the joy of UNAMI to make a mandate extension, revealing that the special international investigation committee’s head for documenting “Daesh” crimes would arrive in Baghdad soon. The committee head would consult Iraqi concerned authorities about the mechanism of UNAMI work concerning those crimes after UN adoption to Iraq’s proposal to document them, according to Kubis statements.
