The Foreign Ministry announced that it welcomes the appointment of Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi to head the new government. "We welcome the appointment of Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi to head the new government in support of the independence and sovereignty of Iraq," the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
