Parliamentary Culture Committee discusses with UNESCO the activation of conventions and the inclusion of archaeological sites in the list of World Heritage

The Committee on Culture, Tourism and Parliamentary Antiquities discussed with the representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Iraq the activation of the agreements concluded and the reasons not to lift abuses of the ancient city of Babylon and ways to include cities and other archaeological sites in the global list.

The importance of activating the agreements already concluded between the organization and the Iraqi authorities, as well as the conclusion of new agreements that serve the cultural and artistic side in Iraq the committee's chairman, Samia al-Ghalab, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency.

The statement added that the meeting discussed the issue of delayed payment of debts accumulated by the representative of Iraq in Paris and the reasons for not lifting the excesses so far from the ancient city of Babylon and ways to include cities and other archaeological sites in the global list, and the reasons for the removal of Iraq from 21 UN committees and the number of cities and archaeological sites It was agreed to activate a joint action plan between the Committee on Culture, Tourism and Antiquities and UNESCO to improve the legislative initiative and focus on laws related to culture, tourism and furniture.
