3000 cases of corruption, including the Mitsubishi deal, Court of Integrity stated

    The Integrity Court confirmed Thursday that 3,000 cases of corruption have been heard in Rusafa, including the Mitsubishi deal.

    In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency Judge Iyad Mohsin Damad, head of the Integrity and Money Laundering Court in Rusafa, said in a statement that his court heard about 3,000 cases of functional corruption within one year. 220 cases of embezzlement, 487 cases of waste of public money, 81 cases of bribery, 386 cases of employees exceeding their job limits and 132 theft of State funds.

    He stressed that the cases of corruption attributed to the special scores amounted to 393, referring to the issuance of 46 convictions against them, while the sentences handed down to those who are below the special scores reached 548 judgments during the past year.

    Asked about the Mitsubishi case, Damad explained that the subject is the contract of the Ministry of Interior to buy cars for the ministry from a company, revealing that investigations conducted by the Inspector General of the Interior showed that there are suspicions of corruption in the contract and exaggeration in the purchase prices of cars agreed On the basis of this, our Court issued orders to bring and arrest warrants against members of the committees responsible for contracting.
