Abdul Mahdi thanked the Council for its interest and support for Iraq, its people and its government, the prime minister's press office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The sacrifices of the Iraqis and their victory over a supporter deserves greater support for the reconstruction efforts, Abdul Mahdi told the UN Security Council members, noting that "the fatwa of the supreme religious authority unites the Iraqis and their unity,The members of the Security Council praised the policy of the Iraqi government balanced and its relations with the Arab, regional and international environment.
The members of the UN Security Council that "our historic visit to Iraq is the first of its kind and we confirm our support for the sovereignty and stability of Iraq and the direction of the Iraqi government"
