Real Madrid have succeeded in bringing Japan's promising star Takifusa to Cuba without costing any money, the Spanish sports daily Marca reported.
The newspaper said that the player, nicknamed "Messi Japan" with his former club Tokyo, ended in early June, and is entitled to leave for free. This prompted the Spanish club management to negotiate with the player directly without referring to club officials, who have no authority after the end of his contract.
Cuba, a former Barcelona player, has signed a five-year contract with Spain's traditional rivals and will receive an annual salary of 1.2 million euros.
