Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi held a special meeting to assess the plans and preparations for controlling the potential floods and the expected rise in water levels and to ascertain the safety of the measures taken in preparation for the season of melting of snow and rain.
Abdul Mahdi, according to a statement of his office, praised the plans and professional procedures reassuring applied to control the water entering Iraq and to benefit from drinking, watering, power generation and others.
And reviewed the alternative plans for the disposal of additional water in anticipation of any emergency, stressing that this wet year gently God is a good year for Iraqis to help reduce pollution and salinity of water and improve the quantity and quality of drinking water and watering.
The prime minister called for the maximum use of water and a plan for the river basin.
He directed all energies, and continue to monitor the water levels and ensure the safety of dams, bridges and oil fields and take precautionary measures and provide the conditions of safety and rescue requirements and civil defense.
He also directed a study to compensate citizens for damages according to law.
