The Minister of Transport Eng. Abdullah Laibi Bahad announced, on Sunday, the approval of the Ministry of Construction and Housing on the design of the basis for the establishment of an integrated economic city in the peninsula of Faw.
"The major Faw project is an Italian design that will be implemented according to international standards and standards," he said during a joint conference with the Minister of Construction and Housing, Benkeen Rikani, adding that the project will include the construction of large industrial, residential and commercial zones to promote wider exchange with Gulf countries.
He added that "the Ministry of Transport decided to develop Iraq's maritime coast after embarking on the completion of the port of Faw," stressing that " Faw is the only waterfront in Iraq overlooking the Arabian Gulf."
"The contract was signed in advance with Italian consultancy Tecntal for the preparation of Master Plan for the region includes the distribution of spaces in a way to ensure the optimal use of land to overcome slums in the implementation of projects."
