The Central Criminal Court on Tuesday sentenced a drug dealer to death for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances.
The Supreme Judicial Council SJC said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the Central Criminal Court issued a death sentence against a drug dealer for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances,” noting that “the convict was found in possession of one million Captagon pills with the intention of trafficking and selling them among users.”
SJC added that “the verdict was issued based on the provisions of Article 27/1 of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017.”
