The Ministry of Interior announced on Monday that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle 400,000 narcotic pills across the Euphrates River in the Baghouz area.

The ministry's official spokesman, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The great security achievements of the Border Forces Command continue to prevent cross-border drug trafficking, as the Border Commando Brigade was able to thwart an attempt to smuggle 400,000 Captagon pills across the Euphrates River towards Iraq in the Baghouz area."
The statement added, "The operation was carried out after thermal cameras detected the smuggled materials."

It noted that "the necessary legal measures have been taken, and the seized materials have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation."
