UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his deep sorrow and shock on Thursday over the killing of a UN staff member and the serious injury of five others in Israeli airstrikes targeting two UN guest houses in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip.
Guterres emphasized that all UN premises are known and must be absolutely inviolable. He called for a comprehensive investigation into this incident.
Earlier, Guterres expressed his shock over the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, calling for respect for the ceasefire, facilitating unhindered humanitarian access, and the unconditional release of all remaining hostages.
