The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs - MOFA condemned, on Tuesday, the renewed Zionist military operations in the Gaza Strip, describing them as 'brutal'.
MOFA called on the international community to take urgent action to put an end to the grave violations and protect Palestinian civilians, according to a statement by the Ministry - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The Ministry expressed "the Republic of Iraq's condemnation in the strongest terms and denunciation of the renewed 'brutal' military operations carried out by the Zionist entity against defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the martyrdom of 404 Palestinians, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 562 others, according to the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip."
"These aggressive acts constitute a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law and directly target innocent civilians, confirming the continued policy of repression and aggression pursued by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people," added the statement.
MOFA called on the international community "to assume its moral and legal responsibilities and take urgent action to put an end to these grave violations and protect Palestinian civilians from the continuation of these attacks, which contravene the most basic principles of human rights."
In the statement, MOFA affirmed the Republic of Iraq's steadfast support for the Palestinian people in their just struggle to achieve their freedom and legitimate rights, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.
