Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed, today, Monday, the use of modern technologies, automation systems and governance in the Border Crossings Authority to facilitate the entry of goods into the country.
The Authority said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received in his office the head of the Border Crossings Authority, Major General Omar Adnan al-Waili."
"During the meeting, the reality of the border crossings and ways to develop and reconstruct them and activate electronic governance in all their procedures were discussed. The steps taken in the field of combating corruption and smuggling in all its forms were also reviewed, and follow up on this file, which is one of the government's most important priorities."
Prime Minister stressed according to the statement that "maximizing non-oil revenues is very important in supporting the state treasury. This requires combating corruption, following up on financial transfers, and developing scientifically studied plans to follow them up and not allowing any manipulation or exploitation. This is a shared responsibility that requires high coordination and integration between all departments working at the border crossings."
Al-Sudani also stressed the "use of modern technologies, automation systems and governance to facilitate the entry of goods into the country through border crossings. He also stressed the need for the Border Crossings Authority to evaluate workers and remove any officer, employee or member who has negative information about him outside the work of the crossings."
For his part, the head of the authority reviewed the qualitative activities that it has implemented recently, which included controlling the waste of public money, forgery of tax receipts, smuggling of vehicles under the model, and controlling the smuggling of medicines and medical supplies.
Al-Waili provided a summary of all field tours related to the rehabilitation and development of border crossings.
