Six Arab countries welcomed, in a joint statement, today, Saturday, the ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza.
A joint statement by the countries that met and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "at the invitation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, a meeting was held in Cairo on the first of February at the level of foreign ministers, in which the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt participated, in addition to the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization for the State of Palestine and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States."
The statement indicated that "the participating parties agreed in the meeting to welcome reaching an agreement to cease fire in Gaza and exchange prisoners and detainees, and to praise the efforts made by the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar in this regard, and to emphasize the important and appreciated role of the United States in achieving this agreement, and to look forward to working with the administration of US President "Donald Trump" to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, and to work to free the region from conflicts."
He added that the support for the efforts made by the three countries to ensure the implementation of the agreement in all its stages and provisions, leading to complete calm, was emphasized, and the importance of sustaining the ceasefire was emphasized, in a way that ensures the access of humanitarian support to all parts of the Gaza Strip and the removal of all obstacles to the entry of all humanitarian and shelter aid and recovery and rehabilitation requirements, in an appropriate and safe manner, and the complete withdrawal of the Zionist forces and the complete rejection of any attempts to divide the Gaza Strip, and work to enable the Palestinian Authority to assume its duties in the Gaza Strip as part of the occupied Palestinian territory along with the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in a way that allows the international community to address the humanitarian disaster that the Strip has been exposed to due to the Zionist aggression. He continued, "The pivotal, indispensable and irreplaceable role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) was emphasized, and the categorical rejection of any attempts to bypass it or limit its role was emphasized, in addition to emphasizing in this regard the importance of the international community's concerted efforts to plan and implement a comprehensive reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip, as soon as possible, in a way that ensures the Palestinians remain on their land, especially in light of the steadfastness and complete adherence shown by the Palestinian people On its land, and in a way that contributes to improving the daily lives of the Palestinians living in the Strip on their land, and addresses the problems of internal displacement, until the completion of the reconstruction process.
The attendees expressed, according to the statement, "continued full support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and their adherence to their legitimate rights in accordance with international law, and affirmed the rejection of infringement of those inalienable rights, whether through settlement activities, expulsion and demolition of homes, or annexation of land, or by evacuating that land from its owners through displacement or encouraging the transfer or uprooting of Palestinians from their land in any way or under any circumstances and justifications, which threatens stability and warns of further extension of the conflict to the region, and undermines the chances of peace and coexistence among its peoples."
The statement indicated that "the attendees welcomed the intention of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in cooperation with the United Nations, to host an international conference to rebuild the Gaza Strip, at the appropriate time, and appealed to the international community and donors to contribute to this effort."
