The Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced today, Sunday, the launch of a program to grant scholarships to students between Iraq and Iran.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Haider Al-Aboudi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The second day of the Iraqi-Iranian Scientific Week witnessed the attendance of the presidents and representatives of Iraqi-Iranian universities, where agreements and understandings were resumed regarding the executive program that was presented on the first day of the conference under the auspices of the Ministers of Education in both countries."
Al-Aboudi added that "the most important axes included in the executive program are the provision of mutual scholarships and fellowships between the two countries, as Iraq will provide (100) fellowships to the Iranian side within the (Study in Iraq) program, while the Iranian side will provide (200) fellowships in various specializations to the Iraqi side," noting that "the number of memoranda signed today between the two sides is more than (100) memoranda."
For his part, the Iranian Deputy Minister of Science, Reza Evar, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "There was an agreement and understanding between Iranian and Iraqi universities and a focus on what is known as (technical parks)," expressing his hope that "these agreements will lead to practical and applied achievements inside Iraq, where there will be good cooperation between Iranian and Iraqi universities." He pointed out that "these agreements began last year and we have recorded these understandings in the field of technical parks," expressing his hope that "we will reach practical work and good achievements in this field within the next three months."
