Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari announced today, Sunday, the development of a flexible security plan to secure the pilgrimage to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him).
Al-Shammari said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "A flexible security plan has been developed to secure the pilgrimage to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him)."
It added that "all services needed by Pilgrims during their journey to the holy city of Kadhimiya have also been provided."
The commander of Baghdad Operations, Lieutenant General Walid Khalifa Al-Tamimi, confirmed earlier that there were no interruptions during the implementation of the plan to secure the pilgrimage to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Al-Kadhim (peace be upon him).
Al-Tamimi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Baghdad Operations Command has prepared its plan to secure the Rajab pilgrimage on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (peace be upon him), which includes securing the roads of the Pilgrims, and all types of security forces participate in it, including the Interior, Defense, and Popular Mobilization Forces, and there is also the intelligence effort."
The statement explained that "the plan included implementing preemptive operations that ensure that the units search orchards and abandoned houses and secure any areas that could be areas of indirect fire, and the plan also included opening control headquarters at the entrances to Baghdad and in the yards transporting Pilgrims."
It pointed out that "there will be no road closures during the visit and there will be smooth traffic flow."
It continued, "This is accompanied by the implementation of a service plan, in which the Baghdad Municipality and the governorate participate, in addition to the processions. There is also a transportation plan for Pilgrims in which the Ministry of Transport, the resources of the Ministries of Defense and Interior, and the Popular Mobilization Authority participate."
