Barcelona rejected several tempting offers from major European clubs to sign Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old young star who has become one of the most prominent rising talents in the world of football.
According to media reports, the offers included a significant increase in the player's salary, reaching ten times his current salary.
Yamal played a prominent role in Spain's coronation of the European Nations Championship 2024, where he proved himself as one of the team's key players, and won the "Golden Boy" award last November. Despite suffering an injury that kept him off the field for a short period, he returned strongly to score decisive goals, including a goal in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao, and another goal in the big 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in the final match.
The Catalan newspaper "El Nacional" revealed that major clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have expressed interest in signing Yamal.
Paris Saint-Germain, in particular, had planned to make an offer worth 250 million euros last summer, but Barcelona confirmed its commitment to its young player. This season, Yamal has contributed to 20 goals in 23 matches, according to the “Whoscored” website, and is the second highest-rated player in the major European leagues this season, while “Transfermarkt” data indicated that he is currently the third most valuable player in the world.
