Details of PM meeting with the Iranian President

    The Prime Minister's Media Office announced today, Wednesday, the details of the meeting of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Massoud Pezeshkian, in Tehran.
     
    The Prime Minister's Media Office stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met today, Wednesday, with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Massoud Pezeshkian, at Saadabad Palace in the capital, Tehran, which he arrived today on an official visit," indicating that "during the meeting, bilateral relations were discussed, and the importance of continuing joint cooperation efforts within the framework of bilateral agreements and understandings and developing a constructive partnership, in a way that enhances the interests of the two neighboring countries."
     
    The statement added that "the meeting witnessed a discussion of cooperation and coordination in positions between the two countries regarding developments in the region, especially the situation in Syria and the necessity of joint work to establish security and stability there and preserve its territorial integrity."
     
    It continued that "the meeting discussed the repercussions of the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and emphasized the continuation of Iraq's efforts, based on constructive cooperation relations with the Islamic Republic and its Arab and regional surroundings, in order to impose calm and stability throughout the region."
     
    It noted that "the Prime Minister headed the Iraqi government delegation in the expanded bilateral talks held in Tehran, while the Iranian delegation was headed by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, where they addressed areas of cooperation and partnership between the two countries at various levels and fields."
     
    It pointed out that "the Iraqi delegation was represented by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministers of Electricity and Trade, the National Security Advisor, the Advisor to the Prime Minister, and the Director General of Oil Projects at the Ministry of Oil."
     
    The statement explained that "the discussions between the delegations of the two countries witnessed a review of the measures taken by both sides to activate the memoranda of understanding that were previously signed during President Pezeshkian's visit to Baghdad last September, especially those focused on the areas of railway links to transport visitors, security and border control, energy fields, and joint industrial cities."
