The European Union announced today, Wednesday, the provision of 12 million euros to support projects in the Iraqi agricultural sector, while indicating that work is underway with the government to provide grants and projects for young people after training them.
The head of cooperation in the European Union, Lennart Derider, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "The Union is continuing to research and develop existing projects in Iraq, and we are still looking to develop the agricultural sector and other sectors and help develop several projects," noting that "the European Union provided 12 million euros to help small and medium enterprises in the agricultural sector, and we are happy with the success of the projects and the provision of job opportunities."
Derider added that "there is a trend to provide support opportunities for several other projects," noting that "the European Union has several projects that it supports and provides grants to help them."
He continued: "We are discussing with the Iraqi government to provide training for young people to develop their skills," explaining that "after the training, we can provide grants and provide projects for them."
