Marja’ Sayyed Ali Sistani received UN Special Representative to Iraq Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert as he welcomed the efforts of UN to help Iraq in terms of overcoming the current problems.
Sayyed Sistani noted that the new Iraqi Government has a serious mission ahead of it and it must show a successful mission soon.
He also asserted that this success must include fighting corruption and improving public services, in addition, to reduce the sufferings of the people especially, in Basra.
“If the political blocs won’t change the way they deal with the country’s concerned matters, then there will be no real chance to overcome the crises,” he added.
Sayyed Sistani explained that Iraq has paid a high price in defeating Daesh terrorist groups that resulted in large numbers of martyrs, wounded and handicapped cases as well as many destroyed areas and a huge financial crisis.
“There is a need to reconstruct the damaged areas and to bring back the IDPs to their homelands after rehabilitating it. That should be the priority of the government as the international organizations and countries around the world must assist in achieving this,” Sayyed Sistani said during the meeting.
