The head of the National Security Service, Abdul Karim Al-Basri, discussed a number of issues of common interest today, Thursday, with the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan.
A statement by the agency received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the head of the National Security Agency, Abdul Karim Al-Basri, received the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, to discuss prospects for cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations."
The statement added that "the two sides discussed several issues of common interest, focusing in particular on the role of the UN mission in supporting government efforts to return the displaced from Al-Hol camp, and developing psychological rehabilitation and training programs for returnees to Al-Jadaa Center, while highlighting the pivotal role of the National Security Service in this context."
According to the statement, Al-Hassan expressed his "great appreciation for the role played by the National Security Service under the leadership of Al-Basri, praising the efforts of the service in confronting various security challenges, including combating terrorism and drug crimes," stressing that "the work of the service contributed tangibly to enhancing security and stability in Iraq."
For his part, Al-Basri stressed, according to the statement, "the National Security Service's commitment to continue working to ensure security and stability in the country," stressing "the importance of partnership with the international community in facing various challenges."
