The Supreme Council condemns the targeting of Mr. Al-Qabanji’s house

    The Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council condemned, on Wednesday, the targeting of the home of the member of the Council's leadership body, Sadr al-Din al-Qabanji. 

    The council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "we condemn and denounce in the strongest terms the terrorist act that targeted the house of the Imam of the Friday Prayers of Najaf, His Eminence Sayyid Sadr al-Din al-Qabanji, as this malicious act is considered targeting religious symbols and prominent figures that brings back to memory the page of criminal gangs and their threat to the lives and interests of our people, and destabilizes the security and stability of society, and violates the privacy of the governorate as a center for religious seminaries and offices of the great religious authorities and the Qiblah of Muslims in the entire world to obtain religious sciences and knowledge and to seek blessings from the proximity and visit of the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him."

    He added, "We demand that the local government of Najaf Governorate follow up on the issue with great seriousness and enforce the rule of law for the safety and stability of the governorate's people. We also extend our sincere thanks to everyone who showed solidarity, denounced, and communicated to check on the safety of the member of the Supreme Council's leadership, His Eminence Sayyid al-Qabanji, from scientific, tribal, social, and official figures."
