UNESCO and Baghdad Municipality organize a training course for content creators

    the UNESCO office in Iraq, organized today, Thursday, in partnership with the Baghdad Municipality, a training course for content creators as part of the activities of the International Media and Information Literacy Week.

    UNESCO said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The UNESCO Office in Iraq organized - in partnership with the Baghdad Municipality - an intensive training course for digital content creators, from October 22 to 24, as part of the activities of the World Media and Information Literacy Week and Digital Literacy."

    UNESCO added, "The three-day course at the Dr. Ahmed Al-Waeli Museum and Cultural Center in Baghdad targeted thirty participants of both genders, and focused on practical applications of the most prominent creative techniques in content creation, processing, examining and matching, in addition to the use of artificial intelligence tools in this field. A group of journalists and media professionals from several Iraqi governorates, including the Kurdistan Region, participated in the course, where they exchanged knowledge and skills, and established the first team of ethical content creators."

    UNESCO continued, "This training course comes as part of the grant provided by UNESCO in Paris, within the joint funding program for media and information literacy (MDP) implemented by UNESCO in Iraq."

    “UNESCO supports the development of media, information literacy and digital competencies for all to enable people to engage critically with information and navigate the online environment safely and responsibly, and ensure trust in our information and digital technology ecosystem,” said Dhiaa Thabet, the program officer, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

    For her part, Khawla Musa, the head of the Al-Waili Museum and Center, confirmed in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the Baghdad Municipality seeks to include the city of Baghdad among UNESCO cities for media and information literacy by hosting activities related to this topic in its cultural houses and museums.”

    Content creator Youssef Salman confirmed that “the course provided a huge amount of information, digital evidence and applications presented by UNESCO experts over the three days, enabling participants to deal with digital content in a smooth and new way that supports ethical standards in the digital space.”
