Iraq: 5693 Lebanese arrive through Baghdad and Najaf airports, Al-Qaim port

    Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday the reception of 5693 Lebanese refugees through Baghdad and Najaf airports and Al-Qaim port.


    "We recorded a 210% increase of seizures in the field of combating drugs during the term of the current ministry in 2023-2024," said the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, in a press conference - attended by the Iraqi News Agency - INA reporter.


    He noted, "More than 6.6 tons of narcotics were seized. 569 drug networks, including 39 international networks, were dismantled during 2023-2024. The number of arrest warrants increased to 74, death sentences to 138, and more than 500 life sentences. The border forces arrested more than 6 suspects on the border," explaining that "200 km of the border wall with Syria were opened."


    "The surveillance camera system along the border was completed and fortifications were completed," he added, stressing that "more than 1,000 thermal cameras were installed along the border. 17 offices were opened to issue the national card outside Iraq."
