Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani mourned  on Saturday, the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah in Lebanon, while affirming Iraq's principled position in standing with the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.

The Media Office of The Prime Minister stated in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA, “In a new heinous act of aggression and a crime that confirms the Zionist entity's crossing all red lines, the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, ascended as a martyr on the path of righteousness, earning a noble reward in both this world and the hereafter. He followed in the footsteps of heroic martyrs who dedicated their lives to the cause of confronting the oppressive occupation.

“The criminal act that targeted Dahieh yesterday expresses a reckless desire to expand the conflict at the expense of the peoples of the region, their security, and their stability,” the statement added.

The statement further stated,"The great causes, including the just Palestinian cause and Lebanon’s ongoing confrontation with Zionist aggressions, affirm that in the end, it is the people who will prevail—on their land, the birthplace of their history, and their heritage".

the statement also affirmed that “We reiterate our warnings and emphasize the responsibility of international organizations, the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and all key regional powers to take decisive action to halt the aggression and prevent the ongoing ethnic genocide of the Palestinian people which the occupation has perpetrated for decades and has escalated with brutal ferocity since last October against our people in Gaza. This aggression has recently extended to our Lebanese brothers, where indiscriminate killings have claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent Lebanese in just a few days. Whose interests are served by the expansion of this aggression?”

“On this day, we reaffirm Iraq’s principled stance in standing with the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. This stance is grounded in international legitimacy, as well as the humanitarian and the moral principles that dictate the defense of our brotherly peoples, who continue to stand firm on their land, preserving their cultural and civilizational heritage,” the statement noted.
The statement concluded by saying: Allah Mercy and peace upon the martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah,
Glory and honor to all the martyrs of Lebanon, the martyrs of Palestine, and the martyrs of the righteous confrontation against the forces of aggression and oppression.
