SMC: Major security measures amid Arbaeen pligramge

    The Security Media Cell )SMC( announced on Wednesday, a major security and service alert in all security units coinciding with the Arbaeen pilgrimage, while indicating that directives were issued to pilgrim via loudspeakers.
     
    The head of SMC, Major General Tahseen Al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The number of our security forces has been increased in all the visitation axes, and vehicles have been sent to some axes under the supervision of the commander of Baghdad Operations, Lieutenant General Walid Khalifa Al-Tamimi, based on the request of the pilgrim, in addition to preparing the vehicles for the return of the pilgrims."
     
    He added, "Our work continues 24 hours a day, and there is a great effort by the Iraqi Air Force, and the Army Aviation Command is conducting daily and regular sorties over the holy city of Karbala and on all axes."
     
    He stated, "The Military Intelligence Directorate, through its media department, has begun sending messages via loudspeakers to pilgrim about the necessity of avoiding direct sunlight and drinking sufficient amounts of water, and in the event that they feel any symptoms of illness, they should immediately head to the medical detachments deployed on the pilgrims roads."
     
    He pointed out, "Our security forces continue to secure the visit through several axes, as the Anbar Operations Command is conducting surveys and chasing operations for all terrorist groups deep in the desert, in addition to the great security efforts made by the Diyala Operations Command and the Salahuddin Operations Command, as well as the intensive intelligence efforts."
     
    He explained, "The Ministries of Interior and Defense and the Popular Mobilization Authority are still providing thousands of ice cubes for the Husseini processions, in addition to preparing special rain-seeking vehicles for pilgrims."
