The Iraqi Weightlifting Federation - IWLF announced, on Monday, preparing players, including weightlifter Ali Ammar Yasser, for the Los Angeles Olympics.
"The records achieved by weightlifter Ali Ammar Yasser during the Paris Olympics allow him to qualify for the next Olympics," said the head of the federation, Muhammed Kadhim Mizil, to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
He noted that "the competitors were strong and old, as a number of them have medals in more than one previous Olympic participation," adding, "The future will be in favor of weightlifter Ali Ammar, who succeeded, despite his young age, in recording two world records in the category in which he plays."
Mizil explained, "We will start from now on the journey of preparing weightlifter Yasser and other players for the upcoming championships and Olympics in Los Angeles, through the unprecedented support from the Iraqi government and the Olympic Committee in preparing the means for success in addition to holding long local, external camps and interacting with the champions of the game."
