Sulaimaniyah province is preparing to host the Arab Cycling Championship starting in early November, featuring strong participation from national teams.
The Cycling Federation confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that Ismail Al-Hosani, Secretary General of the Arab Cycling Federation, has officially announced the participation of eight countries. The event marks a significant return to Sulaimaniyah after a 44-year hiatus, with city streets in Halabja district designated for the championship. Organizers are confident that the event will be a standout in both technical and organizational aspects, aiming to showcase Iraqi cyclists on the podium.
In addition, the Central Cycling Federation has released the schedule for the third phase of the Iraqi Club Championship, set to take place from August 8 to 11 in Duhok.
The championship will kick off with a 40 km individual time trial for both men and women on the first day, followed by a 40 km race for juniors. Day two will feature an 80 km individual time trial for seniors and a 120 km race for juniors. The final day will see a 120 km time trial for seniors and a 60 km race for juniors, with the latter starting fifteen minutes after the seniors' event.
