The Ministry of Transport confirmed today, Friday, that seismic observatories at the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring recorded an earthquake east of Khanaqin.
A statement from the Ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “the earthquake was about 9 km east of Khanaqin District - Diyala Governorate, specifically at the Iraqi-Iranian border, where its magnitude reached 3.3 degrees and was felt by citizens living near its occurrence,” confirming that There were no human or material losses.”
The Ministry called on citizens to "take caution, stay away from rumors and false news, and adhere to the seismic commandments issued by the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring."
