President Barham Salih stressed the need for common peaceful coexistence among all components of the Iraqi people, and start a new page for a post-ISIS stage where cordiality, love and harmony prevail.
His Excellency received the representative of His Eminence Baba Sheikh the spiritual leader of the Yazidi religion in Iraq and the world, and a delegation of prominent political, social and religious figures, at the Presidential Office in Baghdad on Tuesday, December 25, 2018.
The President underscored the need to facilitate the return of the internally displaced persons to their homes urgently by the respective authorities and to provide security and services atmospheres for them.
His Excellency indicated that most of the areas of displacements need a joint effort by the federal government and local governments, as well as a cooperation of the people of these areas in order to secure their necessary needs and restore life to those areas.
The President demonstrated the need to work for the return of the abducted of our Yazidis people in Sinjar and to know their fate, as part of their rights on us as a state and officials.
President Salih commended the sacrifices made by the sons of our Yazidis people in the face of the terrorist gangs of ISIS, their steadfastness, patience, and what they have achieved of heroic stories, which have stunned the world, notably after the activist Nadia Murad won the Nobel Peace Prize.
For their part, the members of the delegation stressed the Yezidis' commitment to their homeland, to live together with the rest of their brothers, and to contribute to building a new Iraq that can accommodate all components. They lauded the support of the President and his standing by them in their plight.
