Moaid Allami, the president of the Arab Journalists Union and the president of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, reaffirmed the deal with three hospitals to provide medical care for injured and wounded journalists on Sunday.
In an address at the central ceremony celebrating the 155th anniversary of the National Day of the Iraqi Press, which was attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Moaid Allami, the president of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and the Arab Journalists Syndicate, said: "We welcome the guests of Iraq from ministers, ambassadors and diplomats," adding that "the General Secretariat of Journalists met yesterday and took important decisions, especially with regard to the Palestinian people and the victims of the war on Gaza and the destruction of infrastructure."
"The rulings mentioned going to international courts, where the participants decided to send a strongly worded message to the European Union for their silence towards the Palestinian cause," he continued.
He praised "the role of the Prime Minister in opening Iraq's borders to Palestine and the wounded, in addition to sending aid," noting that "Iraq received dozens of wounded Palestinians, which is a duty."
"We are grateful to the Prime Minister for his support of Iraqi journalists," he said. "The most recent example is the funding for journalist treatment, which was started at the Alrahibat hospital. There are plans to collaborate with two more hospitals in this regard as well."
He called for "amending the law of the Journalists' Pension Fund and taking it into account," praising "the reconstruction campaigns taking place in Baghdad."
