Iraqi President Barham Salih informed the US Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mike Pompeo that it is highly important to take the Iraqi situation into account.
“The regional and international tensions must not affect the country,” added Salih.
This came during a phone call between the two on Saturday where both have discussed the recent updates in the region.
Pompeo also informed Salih the reasons behind the US withdrawal out of Syria and the commitment of fighting Daesh and terrorism in Iraq.
Salih also asserted the need to come up with a political settlement to deal with the Syrian crisis as well as ending violence and random struggles in this area.
