Baghdad Operations Command-BOC announced on Saturday, that Al-Tarmiya district is fully secured and that the duties of mukhtars( district’s chiefs) have been reactivated, while surveillance cameras with large ranges have been installed in the district.
Baghdad Operations Commander, Lieutenant General Walid Khalifa Al-Tamimi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), " Tarmiya district has complex geographical terrain and contains some cells of ISIS terrorist gangs. Therefore, BOC has taken numerous measures to eliminate these terrorist cells."
Al-Tamimi added that " Tarmiya district has been fully secured, and sectors within it have been redistributed. Additionally, key locations have been identified and fortified with concrete barriers to prevent the movement of ISIS terrorist elements from one place to another. Furthermore, 10 surveillance cameras have been installed in large areas."
He continued, "Our security forces are carrying out continuous preemptive operations within the Tarmiya district," affirming that "the district is witnessing a good security situation."
He pointed out that " Baghdad Operations Command held several meetings with mukhtars in Baghdad areas, directing them to collaborate with security forces. There was significant responsiveness from them, and security sectors were instructed to cooperate with the mukhtars."
He clarified that " mukhtars possess crucial details about the area, hence they are considered the eyes of security sectors in conveying information to security forces to take necessary actions."
