The Development Road project will provide a low-cost and fast transportation corridor for the next four decades, says PM Al-Sudani

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani received representatives of research centers specialized in Iraq and the region at his residence in Washington. The meeting took place on the sidelines of his official visit to the United States.
 
“At the beginning of the meeting, he emphasized the importance of this visit, coinciding with the 21st anniversary of the change in Iraq, and at a time when efforts are underway to advance the relationship with the United States to a comprehensive partnership level through joint committees,” stated The Media Office of The Prime Minister in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.
“ Constructive and frank dialogues were held with President Biden and key members of the U.S. administration regarding the mechanisms of transitioning bilateral relations and ending the coalition mission, based on the Strategic Framework Agreement and Partnership that is not implemented since 2008,” the statement added.
 
Prime Minister Al-Sudani highlighted that the accompanying delegation of businessmen was carefully selected for the visit, paving the way for twinning between Iraqi and American companies. He described the Iraqi community in America as a distinguished community comprising competencies that can enhance bilateral relations.
 
He further stated that Iraq is progressing with the implementation of the Development Road project, noting that feasibility studies have indicated that the project will provide a low-cost and fast transportation corridor for the next four decades. Among the objectives of the Development Road is the localization of industries in Iraq.
 
Regarding regional developments, Prime Minister Al-Sudani affirmed that Iraq has exerted significant efforts to prevent the expansion of conflict, warning that continued deliberate killing of civilians would lead to violence and extremism. He reiterated efforts to reduce escalation.
 
Prime Minister Al-Sudani listened to the presentations of the representatives of the research centers and addressed their questions and inquiries regarding the future relationship with the United States, tension in the Middle East region, Iraq's foreign relations, and economic and climate challenges.
