Suspects detained in Anbar with cash and fake IDs

    The arrest of two suspects in Anbar province who were in possession of money and forged documents was announced by the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency on Wednesday. 

    In a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the agency stated that "detachments of the intelligence agency specialized in combating organized crime in Anbar arrested two suspects in possession of counterfeit amounts of money in US dollars and Iraqi currency, after monitoring information indicating the presence of people promoting counterfeit currency."

    "They were arrested with fake amounts of money and numerous forged official documents after due process judicial approvals were obtained and an intelligence and field follow-up team was promptly established," the agency stated.  
     
    During questioning, the arrestees freely acknowledged that they had a lot of forged official documents and promoted counterfeit money, it continued. The agency also mentioned that they had been referred to the appropriate investigative authorities along with the seizures so they could face justice.
