Al-Sudani Launches Work on Abu Ghraib Sewerage Project and Announces Several Service Projects for the District

    Today, Thursday, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani commenced the implementation works of the Abu Ghraib Sewerage Project, as part of a strategic package of projects aimed at addressing sewage treatment across Baghdad province. This project, designed to serve 300,000 residents of the district with a capacity of 41,000 cubic meters per day, includes a set of 18 treatment stations.

    Prime Minister Al-Sudani explained that the Abu Ghraib Sewerage Project is one of four projects approved under the Iraq-China Agreement, reflecting the government's vision to prioritize infrastructure projects. He noted the commencement of the main projects in Nahrawan and Sab' al-Bor, and now in Abu Ghraib, with forthcoming projects in Al Wihda and Rashid districts, emphasizing the importance of adhering to high standards, meticulous laboratory testing, and the field presence of the province officials and the resident engineer's office to address issues and challenges. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of citizens' cooperation with executing agencies.

    Prime Minister Al-Sudani announced the commencement of a 100-bed hospital construction in Abu Ghraib District and the allocation of funds for refurbishing the district's only existing hospital. He directed relevant authorities and the governorate department to complete a set of projects in the district, including the development of the Baghdad-Abu Ghraib entrance and a sewerage project in AlNasr wa al-Salam neighborhood.

    Furthermore, the Prime Minister pointed out that there are several projects to be implemented in Abu Ghraib, notably the construction of the main highway, a 400 KV power station, and Zaytoon power station (33 KV). Land has been allocated for a new 132 KV power station in the White Gold village of the district, in addition to a cultural city project at Aqar Quf ziggurat. The Prime Minister affirmed that a ministerial team is overseeing the project of building 42 schools to meet the district's needs, along with other service, cultural, and health projects being monitored.
