President Sisi takes oath for third presidential term at Egypt's new capital

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi took his oath for a third presidential term at the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday in the presence of high-level state officials and parliament members.

El-Sisi, whose second presidential term ends on Tuesday 2 April, was re-elected for a new term in December 2023, receiving over 39.7 million votes, representing 89.6 percent of eligible votes cast.

The president is scheduled to commence his official duties from the Presidential Palace in the new capital after taking the constitutional oath and completing his inauguration ceremony for a third term, which commences on 3 April.
