Russia and China used on Friday, their veto power at the UN Security Council session against a US draft resolution condemning the Hamas movement in Gaza.
The Russian delegate to the Security Council, Vasily Nebenzya, said: “Gaza was destroyed after 6 months, and the American delegate now recognizes the need for a ceasefire,” noting that “the American draft resolution on Gaza does not call for a ceasefire.”
"The negotiations in which the Americans participated regarding Gaza were focused and directed only at procrastination. If this resolution was adopted, it would close the discussion on the status of Gaza and give Israel a free hand there," explaining, "The non-permanent members of the Council prepared another non-politicized resolution regarding Gaza." Vasily said.
He continued, "Russia and China are using their veto power in the Security Council against a draft American resolution on Gaza."
The American draft resolution on Gaza stipulates that there will be no ceasefire, and on the condition that the American detainees held by the Hamas movement be released.
