555 violated the rules and regulations of their residence have been taken into custody: Interior Ministry
The arrest of 555 people who violated the rules and regulations of their place of residence in Baghdad, all of different nationalities, was announced by the Ministry of Interior today, Monday.
"The Residency Law No. 76 of 2017 is concerned with the entry of expatriates into the country and the organization of their residency process, according to specific conditions," the ministry stated in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). "The Directorate of Residency Affairs, embarked on a major campaign yesterday, Sunday, in a number of areas of Baghdad, which resulted in the arrest of (555) violators of the conditions and controls ."
Noting that "there are intensive efforts by the competent security services to arrest violators in Baghdad and the provinces," the ministry called on "entrepreneurs and companies to complete the requirements for granting residency by paying fees to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and reviewing the Directorate of Residency Affairs."
"The deployed detachments will persist with this campaign," the ministry declared, urging "citizens to provide information and report any case of violation of the conditions of residence and not to shelter them in order to serve the security of the country."
