Hussein and Fidan discuss Erdogan's upcoming visit to Iraq

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, discussed today, Thursday, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s upcoming visit to Iraq.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, on Thursday, 2/29/2024, on the sidelines of the work of the Third Antalya Diplomatic Forum, which is being held in the city of Antalya.”.

    During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop them in all fields, in a way that achieves the interests of the two friendly countries.

    MOFA added, "Minister Hakan thanked the Minister for his presence to participate in the forum, which is a platform for conveying the opinions and viewpoints of countries in the region regarding regional and international issues. The program for the upcoming visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Iraq and the Minister's participation in the meetings of the 161st session were also discussed during the meeting of the Council of the Arab League States in Cairo next week, in addition to the progress made in the development road project, which is of strategic importance to Iraq and the region.".

    For his part, the Turkish minister stressed according to the statement his country's "interest in ways to advance the course of bilateral relations in a way that serves the interests of the two neighboring countries and the region."
