Abbas Jabr Al-Maliki, the minister of agriculture, and Abbas AL Hajj Hassan, the minister of agriculture in Lebanon, are scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding on Thursday.
"The Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Jabr Al-Maliki, arrived at Beirut airport, heading a delegation of top figures in the ministry, at the invitation of the Minister of Agriculture in the Lebanese caretaker government, Abbas AL Hajj Hassan, who received him at the airport," reads a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture that the Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained.
The statement also mentioned that "the Iraqi minister's visit will involve the signing of a memorandum between Lebanon and Iraq in the government palace, with Prime Minister Najib Mikati in attendance. The delegation will then meet with President Nabih Berri, and a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Beirut will follow, provided that the ministers from both Lebanon and Iraq hold a press conference following the signing of the memorandum."
As per the statement, "the Iraqi minister along with his accompanying delegation will visit southern Lebanon on Friday. The visit will begin in Nabatieh governorate, where he will receive an overview of the banana and avocado plantations in the south. Later on Saturday, he will visit Baalbek city accompanied by a delegation from the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture."
