The Mayor of Rutba District in Anbar Governorate, announced today, Friday, the formation of an engineering committee to follow up on the necessary measures to conserve water and begin implementing the “submersible dam” project to exploit rainwater.
The mayor of Rutba district, Imad Mishal Al-Dulaimi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Rutba district has been suffering for many years from water scarcity, especially within the municipal boundaries for planting trees and public gardens.”.
Al-Dulaimi added, "The existing wells on which Al-Rutba relies are greatly reduced in productivity, in addition to the frequent power outages, which has prompted the government and local administration in the governorate to search for alternative solutions through the optimal use of rainwater.".
Al-Dulaimi explained, “We have begun work on constructing a small dam to conserve water in Al-Rutba District,” noting that “municipal staff have begun constructing a submersible dam at the junction of Wadi Houran and Wadi Al-Amsad to be a place to collect water and benefit from it in the future for agriculture and other purposes.”.
He continued, "An engineering committee has been formed by the local government in the governorate to follow up on the necessary procedures and preserve every drop of water that enters the city from rainwater or groundwater."
